Natural Gas Service for a Fumigation

Effective October 28, 2002, A new U.S. Department of Transportation regulations requires that only trained personnel can shut off in turn on gas service before and after tented fumigation jobs.

To comply with this regulation, the Gas Company has determined that only utility personnel are authorized to shut off and turn on gas service on tented fumigation jobs. Fumigation contractors are no longer authorized to perform these services.

The fumigators will make arrangements for the Gas Company to shut-off the gas 48 hours in advance. Please arrange to have any gates unlocked and any pets put away that would prevent the gas from being shut off.

The owner and/or occupant will be responsible for contacting the Gas Company for the date, time, and access to RE-STORE the gas service. The Gas Company requires 24 hours advance notice to restore gas service, and someone must be home to meet with the Gas Company personnel.

The owner and/or occupant will also need to provide to the Gas Company a "Notice To Re-Enter" verifying that the builder has been cleared for occupancy by the fumigators. We will leave a copy of the "Notice To Re-Enter" on your front door.
